April 2007 Month-end Letter

All the news you would want to ask. Trying to make your TC better.

Note: Remember to prepare for the M/D study group on May 16/17th.

Dear Pastor or Dean,

April marks a time of a serious number of holidays in which students and faculty alike have vanished on short or longer holidays. Welcome back.

Notification of Payment – Agreement

It has for years been our agreement with Tuition Centres that a Bank Slip of the payment or a Transfer Notification (after making an Internet payment) be faxed for our attention. The reason for this is that you often order just after you have paid and then our invoice system is not informed of your payment. A few angry ladies have even snarled at us that we can look it up on our bank statement: “send our books, we have paid!” We get several orders and payments per day. We cannot download a whole set of bank statements twice a day to keep up to date. The agreement attached to your 30 days facility is: “Please fax a Bank Slip”. Thank you for your kindness.

Example of Bank Payment Slip

Sometimes it is difficult to read a faxed slip due to it being a carbon copy. For authenticity sake you may not want to re-write faint numbers. We suggest that you re-write the amount on the slip somewhere else. The reference should be your TC number. Please re-write this as well with a circle around it: [456] R1,345.60  For us in the office, a circle around a three digit number is a TC number. With these figures written by hand we will know that TC 456 has paid in R1345.60 and it will immediately be taken off the account, ready for you to order more material.

Internet Payments

The Internet payment method is used by many Bible Schools. It is quick and easy. It also reduces costs. Your trip to the bank cost you far more that meets the eye: time away from the office, petrol (or wear and tear on your bicycle). When transferring from one bank to the same bank (different branch), money appears immediately as being available. From Standard or FNB to either of our accounts usually takes a day. A cheque deposit may take seven days and lengthens your 30 days payment to 37 days (or your 90 day payment to 97 days). We have the following two accounts:

ABSA          90 6461 4511     Christian Life   (Branch code not needed)

Nedbank     1553 000 544     Christian Life   (15 53 45)

Orders for CLT Material

As described in the CEO Handbook, it is easiest to make a quick phone call to 012 567 6083/7583. The ordering conventions are the following:

  • Please state your TC number first
  • Ask us what your credit limit is if you don’t know (R100 per student)
  • Make sure your statement allows you to order (or make a payment first)
  • Work out your order beforehand to have a list handy
  • Please state code first and then the number of sets needed
  • Use the S- code in front of the order code if you want equal sets of lecture books, workbooks and tests
  • Order in time to give the books a week to arrive to limit postage

Reporting Student Marks and Certificate requests

Certificates and Diplomas are made out on presentation of a Class Results Record (CRR). It must have the graduation date and the TC number on it. About 20% or less of the students may have a Cum Laude. (If you have a class of geniuses, we will come and make a documentary film of this miraculous phenomenon – only joking, but you get the point.) Two signatures should be on the CRR, one being the Quality Officer with the B.Ed/HDE.

CQA Certificates 2007 to 2010

The new CQA Certificates will be made out on the 1st of May as the current ones are. We will receive them this week. They will be valid till the 30th of April 2010, which is once again a 3-year period. We have carried the cost involved through the R200 fee for new Bible Schools and your R100 yearly fee. The Certificates will therefore be accompanied by a R100 invoice.

2007 Conference – CLT Charter

The 2007 CLT Conference was a success and is now over. We had wonderful fellowship. Bible Schools from all over the country gave us invaluable feed-back. We shared our heart of CLT’s future direction. We were asked to publish a cookbook on CLT cuisine, but this we will unfortunately not do (no budget). All the other publications we discussed are well on stream. The internet aspects discussed are also going to become a reality. Pray for us as we slowly make progress in all these directions.

During the conference we started to have the Charter signed by the signatories (the Bible Schools). Two people designated by each TC are asked to sign two Charter Certificates, one to display and one for us to keep in the masterfile. We will have about 200 such unique documents. This is a one-time document for CLT and is of great importance to all the Bible Schools.

We will print out sets of the charter certificates and send them with the CQA Accreditation Certificate. Our pleading request is that you will send one copy back to us. Having the one copy here is part of its purpose.

Thank you for your co-operation and for upholding us in prayer.

God Bless your Ministry
