The CLT Board 30th September, 2008 September 2008 Month-end Letter
Look for other documents you need here: http://www.clt.org.za/GalleryDoc.html Note: Remember to prepare for the M/D study group on Friday, Oct 17th. Dear Pastor or Dean New publications: Discipleship Growth Vol 2 and Groei in Dissipelskap Vol 2 is now available (incl. Workbooks). Dear Pastor, Dean and Administrator, 1. Student Programme SoftwareThe preparation of the now famous software is going very well and has been improved in several ways as we attempted to do everything we want and to ship it next week. A few very good things have come from trying to load our programmes onto it. A total of thirty programmes have been loaded onto it so far. You will only use two or three, but you have the flexibility of choice. In the process you can now see what is required in each programme. We have for instance, loaded two Bachelor programmes (Ministry and Divinity) and three Honours programmes (Ministry, Divinity and Education). The difference between Masters, combined Masters is now very clear and the new requirements for a PhD are also spelled out. A Certificate by means of A5 booklets is a different programme than the one using A4 books. So is also the English or the Afrikaans version of each programme. All the codes and their prices are loaded for you (as fees to the students) and you may change these at will to suit your TC's policy on study fees. A Handbook to operate the software is hereby attached. This will be updated. We have delayed the sending of the monthly newsletter for the following financial details: 2. Mentored MatricA major new development has taken place this week. We are launching a Mentored Matric system. It will have to be mentored by TC's and students can write the end exams at different places, such as the national matric, BCVO, IEB or Cambridge. (This will be at extra cost.) The Calvary Academics exam will be included in the price as a start. But whatever the case may be, the student must still be mentored. That YOU can do with the excellent books that will be provided by us. Also suitable for homeschools (under TC’s). Calvary Academics offeres a comprehensive programme for University admission to mentor high school pupils through the FET phases of grades 10, 11 and 12 towards a range of possibilities of writing a Matric exam. One of these exams will be a Calvary Academics Matric Exam, internationally underwritten by Calvary University and CQA. We will work on its acceptance and we already have indications that look very promising. If Brainline and Impak can do it, so can we, but with a far higher quality in mind. Text books are locally written by experts and published by the most prestigious publisher in South Africa: Maskew Miller Longman. They are related to Pearson Education which Calvary University uses, the largest publisher in the world. Please read the attachment. Subjects will be offered on two levels. The local Standard Level and an International Level. As usual, seven subjects must be taken of which four are compulsory. The two language subjects cary 20 credits and all other subjects 16. (To achieve the international subjects, students must enrol for three subjects (they have already taken on standard level) from Calvary university for 12 extra credits each.) The student fees for the Standard level are R6,870 (TC’s pay R4,050 plus R120 Internet Access) for each of the grades 10, 11 and 12 and the International three courses a total extra fee of R2,835 ($30 registration included). This includes text books and CD's for each course. Tuition Centre Payment Requirement (per student): One cash, two pd cheques one month apart each. (Based on R6,750 (less 40%) + R120) Cost to Tuition Centres (you may set your own student fees)
This includes Internet access for students to do formative tests and exams. Tuition Centre pays: R150 per subject per year offered: Up to about R6,750 (per centre) All subjects have one year exam for grade 10 and 11 and two final year exams. The two languages have an extra literature exam. Life orientation has a portfolio requirement marked by the Centre and can be moderated by Calvary Academics. CA exams are web-based tests for which students pay R120 per year (included in first payment each year). If you as centre want to view one, two or three sets of the books, just pay that relevant first payment of R1,470 or R2,145 and we will send it on to you, with the understanding that that payment and those books will become your first student on that particular level or that you will return the books if you do not start a school at the loss of the postage both ways. You also have to purchase the student programme mentioned above. There is a wonderful opportunity here to offer a service to the community that is needed and can be offered at a more reasonable cost and with a far higher standard of excellence. This you do in a Christian context. (Please feel free to compare in the market what the normal costs are and you will be amazed.) New Bible Schools
Starting a new Bible School is much easier these days. We have prepared a set of six e-mailable “Packs” full of information. The web is also of great help: We also have an Academic Prospectus in print. Please ask us for one.
God Bless your teaching Ministry.
