Principles

Our view of Pastoral Training as a culmination of Life–long–learning is in line with the OBE (Outcomes Based Education) objectives as adopted by the NQF and implemented by SAQA.

The following principles are built in to the learning program:

It is part of life-long learning and therefore recognises that knowledge and skills are also attained in ways other than the formalised academic situation. CLT is an extension of learning that has already taken place in the lives of many mature learners.

The CLT courses will be integrated with life skills, social skills and leadership management as required for the church and community environment and will be of great advantage in all spheres of life.

It is relevant with regards to today’s needs in the modern church but more specifically within the environment of the Pentecostal–renewal experience.

CLT offers a standard registered on the NQF which gives credibility to its national and international acceptance of the outcomes (or results).

The courses have a flexibility to offer multiple pathways to the same learning end.

Easy access is provided to enter the appropriate level of education and training to all prospective learners – in such a way that they will be able to progress.

The different components of the course will fit together in such a way that a student, upon completion of one course, may easily move on to the next course.

It allows students to progress through the levels of National Qualifications via appropriate course combinations of related or different but relevant fields.

CLT courses have portable credits and students can transfer them from one learning institution to another for eventual further studies.

We subscribe to the principle of Recognition of Prior Learning. Through assessment we will give credit to learning which has been acquired in different ways (e.g. life or on–the–job experience and previously attended learning programs).

Tuition Centres will provide for counselling or guidance of learners by trained individuals who meet national standards in their own education.

Training takes place in the local situation and in-house hands-on training necessary for real life experience is effectively imparted through teaching by example of life.
