Gradual Learning

Life long learning establishes the opportunity for gradual learning. A great proportion of South Africa's school leavers are qualified up to level 2, 3 or level 4 on the NQF. The legislation for the NQF determines that every level of learning up to level 6 has to contain 120 credits (each 10 notional hours) of which at least 72 credits are taken on each specific level or higher.

This has opened the way to offer a first degree with 360 credits but effectively giving higher input on every level. Such a degree takes a student gradually from level 4 (Matric) to level 6 (Degree). An RPL assessment may also help to make up the required credits for the course entry level if this is neccessary.

The public universities tend to offer higher education only at level 6, thereby not realizing their task of offering learning to the broad spectrum of the population. This identified need has now opened the door for private tuition or mentoring. CLT has taken up its mentoring position of credit learning facilitator and exercises this task with great responsibility. Its somewhat unique approach must be seen in the light of its motivation and philosophy.

The purpose of the Calvary Life Tutors modules or courses are that they can be credit banked towards recognition of a university learning program (such as Calvary University) and are indicated by the following course initials:
